State Farm Insurance Informative - Poor Coverage for Consumers
I work for a rental claims company and deal alot with State Farm claims, especially auto rental claims. Did you know that if you get into an accident regardless of fault that State Farm only pays a portion of the damages? When you rent a car and do not purchase the rental insurance you are responsible for all damages regardless of fault, including physical damages, loss of use, diminution of value and administration fees. And State Farm will ONLY pay for the physical damages of the vehicle, and leave you to pay the rest of the charges on the claim, which could range up into the thousands. They will tell you that they do not cover all these othe charges. But that is a lie, because according to State Case Law and Federal Restatement of Torts they are legally required to pay for Loss of Use and Diminution of Value. Also, State Farm was taken to Court on Diminishe Value and guess what? State Farm lost!! "Mabry V. State Farm Class Action Settlement." So if you ever rent a vehicle do yourself a favor and get the rental insurance because this way as long as you call the police and report it to them and the rental company you cannot be held responsible. And don't ever let State Farm tell you that they do not cover loss of use or diminution of value because that's not true!! Your the policyholder and have alot of power, use it!!
