The Balloon Man Complaint - Prepaid service not provided

Review by nobledrake on 2007-03-11
FLORIDA -- On 8-12-2005, I paid business owner, Chuck, $250 for a hot-air balloon ride. I have contacted him over a dozen times to schedule my ride. He contends that either the weather is not good (Florida!) or there are not enough riders. I have asked for a refund of my check on 2 occasions since it has been over 1 1/2 YEARS since he cashed my check and to date, he has never provided me the ride. He refuses to refund my money, telling me I "need to be patient". He obviously has no intention of providing me the service paid for nor a refund. BEWARE!

Look up his BBB charter's location at then buzz a complaint off. Send a copy to the Attorney General complaints division of FL. For $250, I doubt it's worth it to Chuck to have an unsatisfactory complaint on file with the BBB for all to see, or an open case with an AG's office. He could dispute the complaint with both, but after a year and a half of being unable to provide the service, I doubt it would be a plausible contention.

I'd definitely take this one to small claims.

I too was ripped off by the Balloon Man Chuck Vaughn of Jacksonville Florida. I have filed suit and am preparing a court case. If your interested in preparing a written statement that I can add to my evidence, I would very much appreciate it. I just registered and I think you can just click on my name and send me an e-mail.
