Advantage Rent a Car - Phoenix Complaint - How do I get these creeps off my back???

Review by Priscilla on 2007-03-11
PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- In March 2006 we booked a trip through for a trip to Phoenix. We booked plane tickets, hotel, car -- everything prepaid. The car was supposed to be an SUV from Advantage. When we got to Phoenix we had to stand in line for over an hour at the Advantage booth. Finally, we were told there was no SUV available -- even though we had reserved *and* prepaid! -- and that we had to take a Ford Taurus. We went to hotel and called Expedia to complain. They called Advantage to straighten it out and were told an SUV was available, so we went back to airport to exchange. Long story short, our credit card was charged $260 *extra* for what they first claimed was an upgrade. When we pointed out it was not an upgrade, but the originally contracted-for car, they changed their song. Now they claim we kept the car two days longer. We had to get it back to the airport Sunday morning to get our flight home! How could we have kept it two days longer???

Now they are charging interest and late fees for the claimed remainder and threatening collection. How do we get these people off our backs??

Send them a certified/return receipt letter of explanation and copies of your documentation. Advise them if they turn it over to a collection agency you WILL sue for all damages and expenses they have caused.

A very good example of why you don't "pre-pay" ANYTHING ON LINE. If you do make sure you get a CONFIRMATION and take it with you. If it is in WRITING they have no argument and you have all the proof you need.
