Furever Friends Rescue Inc Informative - Purebred Cat Rescue - Cat Rescue Services

Review by Linda75248 on 2007-03-14
FT WORTH, TEXAS -- Furever Friends Rescue Inc in Ft Worth Texas buys cats pretending to be pet owners so that they can run them thru the rescue system as cat rescue to fill customers requests for cat rescues. If the cat the customer wants to have as a rescue is not in stock, they go buy a cat from a pet owner pretending they are a person who wants the cat as a pet. They are a non-profit organization on paper but this activity is pet brokering for profit. The pet cats have all their shots, spay/neutered and are healthy. The rescue fee they charge is all profit. This violates the non-profit rules and it violates proper rescue procedures and it endangers many pets.

Unfortunately, crooked Rescues are a lot more common than most people realize. Many are a front for a money making broker.

Bypass these folks. Many make you sign a contract that you will give the pet back if they and they alone decide that you are not doing things the way THEY want. This can be for something as trivial as not feeding the pet some expensive food that they personally prefer. Usually they keep your money as well.

If you want a cat or dog and you are inclined to adopt a pet, do yourself a favor and go to your local animal control or shelter.

This sounds like a very dishonest practice, but there are a couple things I don't understand. If they buy the cats how can the rescue fee be all profit? It seems to me it would cost more to buy a purebreed than they can charge for a resuce fee. Also I don't see how this would endanger many pets.

I agree with Bill.

Additionally, unless you have indisputable proof of this practice, posting something like this could be construed as libel. You need to be careful making statements such as these.

One other thing - I find it hard to believe there are that many cat owners out there willing to make a few bucks by selling their pet. I'm a bit leery as to the veracity of this particular post.
