The Home Depot Complaint - The Staff Does Not Know the Basics
FREMONT, CALIFORNIA -- About a month ago I went to buy an antenna. The clerk in Paints said that he would call somebody. I said that I do not want just somebody, I want somebody who knows that department. He said that a person does not come unless they know the department. A person came who said that he knows a few items but knows nothing about antennas. I told the Paint guy what he said and the Paint guy said that it is against store policy to give out information of when somebody knowledgeable would be available for Security reasons and that is what Corporate said also. Last week I hired my handyman to do another job and he wanted to go to The Home Depot for the materials and we ended up with extras so I went back to The Home Depot to return them. To finish up the project, I needed paint and since I was already at a home improvement store, I went to the Paint Department and shows the salesman my piece to color match and told him that it is for exterior trim as I did not know what type of paint is used for exterior trim. He said that it looks like flat paint so I bought flat paint. Fortunately, I only wanted a quart and it almost looks close after putting on a coat of polyurethane clear gloss that I had. I mentioned that via email to a cousin who is a Realtor and he emailed me back that The Home Depot recently terminated their CEO due to dropping moral as he or she was changing whatever full-time positions to part-time to reduce the amount of benefits paid out. My cousin said that hopefully the new CEO will improve things but if so, that will take time.
Only down the street from that store is a Lowe's from which I normally but not always get better service from. I think I will change my first stop. My handyman uses The Home Depot because he knows what he needs to buy and if he needs help finding exactly that, then he asks for help.
