Juniper Bank Complaint - Crooked means of charging fees $39.00
The due date on my bill was on a Sunday, SUNDAY 02/11/2007. I sent an online bill pay by my bank on 02/01/2007. I have proof of processing by my bank on 02/01/2007. Juniper claims that they received my funds on MONDAY 02/12/2007 (one day after the due date) therefore my fund was late. Which banks process checks on Sundays when almost all banks will not post credits to your account with deposits after 3 O'clock until the next business day let alone on a Sunday. The Postal Service don't even deliver mails on Sundays yet they claim otherwise...the odd bank in the nation. When I asked for a copy of their inter bank transaction sheet for evidence they declined. Juniper contested that I have the burden of proof to show that they received my funds before Friday 02/09/2007 or Saturday 02/10/2007. They don' have to prove anything. Even though, they stated that they don't work on some Sundays and therefore may not post credits to accounts, it will still be classified as late. It is only when they post the funds to your account that it is evidenced and certified. They can choose to post it when they want and most likely a day after the due date. If they had received my funds before the due date they would have posted the amount to my account and therefore I am indebted to pay the late fee of $39.00. I called and spoke to about 5 different Customer Reps, they all chanted the same mantra..."you were late." When I asked to speak to their Supervisors, they all claimed to be Supervisors, Managers and none beyond. I wrote to the President but to no avail. I cut up my card and mailed it to them and gave them my piece of mind. If you are thinking about doing business with Juniper Bank, think twice. Please don't even do it if it is interest free. You will be burned. Think about making $39.00 each month from 50% of their customers...that's a lot of killing. DON'T BE A STATISTIC...stay away from Juniper Bank aka BarclayCard MasterCard. I was deceived with a 9.9% interest rate...If it sounds too good to be true it usually stinks.
