Hills Pet Nutrition, Inc. Complaint - Smaller cans but paying the same price

Review by indyjourney on 2007-03-20
I have been purchasing the Prescription Diet N/D for my dog that has cancer. The cans were 16oz cans. My last purchase I find that the cans are now 12.7oz cans but I am still paying the same price as I did with the 16oz cans. This is not right that you decide to make the cans smaller and expect people to pay the same price.

This seems to be a common packaging trick used by companies. Often I'll see a "new and improved look" on the packaging of whatever, only to find they are now giving you less product for the same price. I think Dannon Yogurt did this a few years back. I had been buying their individual yogurts for years. Then all of sudden the container sizes shrunk for no reason... but the price was the same. I checked the ounces and saw they had cut the amount of yogurt by 20%. So I started buying the competitor product which was not only cheaper, but had more yogurt than Dannon's original larger size.

Try finding a pound of coffee, 1/2 gallon of ice cream or a gollon of paint. At least eggs still come in 12 to a dozen (at least they did last week).
