DirecTV Inc Informative - "Free"Move
IDAHO -- Today I called to request "free" move assistance. Started the process then was told oh by the way a $50 up front fee please. Excuse me? I was never told at anytime when set up the account that there would be a $50 fee to move my system. We have had this account since Oct 2006 - when started it I asked if any hidden fees etc - especially to move-knowing we would be doing so in a few months - no there wasn’t' - no where on the website under 'Move" does it specify $50 fee for "free" move. When I asked to speak to a manager - was told be "manager" who sounded like reading off a script - that our account was not in good standing. I'm sorry but our bill is paid every month on time.We have A+ credit rating, talk about being insulted. Oh well you have only had the account short time. Almost 7 months of account is not long enough? And oh by the way you have to commit to another year of service..... this just keeps getting better. In Oct the only thing the tech had to do was install the receivers - everything else was already here - and we paid a pretty penny for it to be done. At this moment even though we have an appointment for the "free" move next week we are reconsidering our options - between having repeated local reception problems and now this...is Direct Tv really worth it to us. Someone with really good customer service skills who really cared in keeping a customer would have done something - like waive the fee, at the very least - but now - all I have is a few sorry's and not everyone is always informed in all departments about everything. Seems to me a small matter of say a "free" move might not really be free and having to add on another year of commitment might be an important thing for most if not all departments to know. Especially the sales department.
