MCI/Worldcom Complaint - Beware
MICHIGAN -- I had also fallen for a slick scam advertisement from MCI. This one regarding Delta Sky Miles. After 6 months with MCI, I would get 5,000 Delta miles. So I signed up. I was also supposed to get 5 cents/minute long distance and 10 cents/minute calling card. Well, the first bill came and it was something like 15 cents/minute and 25 cents/minute on the calling card. Like so many others, after I called several times they finally told me that they accidentally put me on the wrong plan, and that they would fix it. Of course the next bill had the same charges, and I had to call again and wait on the phone for them to tell me they made a mistake and would fix it. And of course the next bill was wrong. So I decided to sweat it out the six months to get my 5,000 miles. However, when six months came and I called to cancel, it suddenly became 7 months, then 8 months, etc. etc. Hmmm..could this be consumer fraud? My wife called them to complain about it and she was promptly hung up on by one of the many rude "customer service agents." We finally just cancelled out of sheer frustration. Unbelievably, they started calling to get us to join back up. During one conversation, they asked why we cancelled and we told them our experiences and that we were tired of being hung up on....and the caller from MCI hung up on us!!!
