Countrywide Mortgage Complaint - Rip Off
FT. WORTH, TEXAS -- After being a customer of Countrywide for 9 years I decided to refinance my home. In the past 9 years, they were nothing to brag about but not really much worse than other mortgage companies. I talked to them about refinancing and was told to apply I had to provide a credit card for credit check and application fee. I did this with hesitation but felt they could be trusted. By the end of that day, I decided to cancel the application but had to call first thing the next morning which I did and cancelled. To make a long story short, they had billed me for $334. I agreed to let them keep $35 for the credit check and they actually agreed to refund the $299. Of course they have not and will nto respond to e-mails or phone calls. I feel I was dealing with a group of con-artists in a back alley somewhere. Avoid Countrywide with any business if at all possible. I have not given up. Probably will have to sue them.
