Hyundai Motor America Complaint - Hyundai Warranty - Warranty coverage
ROCKY POINT, NEW YORK -- Don't be fooled about the "best warranty in America" as advertized by Hyundai. Not only is it an inferior product, but when time comes to collect on the warrany you'll be in for a big surprise. This happens three ways.
1. There are so many repairs necessary to those cars that dealers are backlogged. Be prepared to be without your car for over a week on even the simplest repair.
2. After 4 different dealerships, I totally gave up on trying to find one with even decent mechanics. Lot's of luck there. One place even trid to repair the thermostat housing, which they cracked in the process of doing another repair which wasn't done correctly, with metalbond. Needless to say, that didn't last long.
3. Hyundai consistently violates the Magneson Moss Act by nullifying the warranty whenever a non-Hyundai part or repair is evidenced. For example, if you have brake pads replaced at Goodyear, which I did, and the brake line subsequently fails (now when's the last time you hear of a brake line failing?) they won't honor the warranty repair for the pads and rotors which were destroyed. If you use a standard transmission shop for servicing and the transmission fails, they won't replace it because it wasn't their fluid (nevermind that Shell oil writes a letter on your behalf stating the fluid used is totally tested and compatible with that transmission).
Buy cheap...get cheap. In Hyundai's case, get ripped off totally.
