The Writer's Literary Children's Agency Complaint - Beware Writing Agency Hunters

Review by Used on 2007-04-13
I have books and poems that I want to have published. I found an agency on-line that I thought was legit. I should've done more due diligence before I even contacted them.

The names then were "The New York Literary Agency" and "The Children's Literary Agency". There is another division that "handles" religious material.
Well, it boils down to this:

You contact them and they send you the same letter no matter which division you are trying to work with. Doesn't matter how poor your synopsis is either. Someone sent them a horrible fake one and was still told they had potential. The agency pretends to have your work critiqued by an independent party(you have to pay for this.) Then you are told that you need a webpage. Once again (costs money), you are told that it is being done by an independent party.
Then you wait thinking something is going to happen. Well, the "something" happened the first time you paid money. You've been taken for a ride. I have no excuse for allowing this to happen to me. I am not dumb, able to waste money on a whim, or easily suckered. I can't even explain why I trusted them.
BEWARE!

Now the company is using the names "Writer's Literary Children's Agency" and "Writer's Literary Agency".

DO NOT Fall for this. Report them if you have.
A company this sleazy should be shut down.

Luckily, my "contract" is now up and I have been able to salvage and use the web page on another venue. In all, they got me for about $210. Imagine how many folk they must be swindling in order to make their killing.

So, avoid "The Children's Literary Agency", et al, like the plague they are and tell all your friends to do the same. Oh, they list their headquarters in New York, NY. I've heard that it's only a mail drop.

Signed,
Used

Thank you for this review, Used. I was just looking at some sites earlier this week. I will steer away from those people.
