Home Depot Complaint - Bait and Switch/False Advertising
ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO -- Yesterday there was a Home Depot flier in the local newspaper. Cool!, There's a nailgun in there my husband wants. I drove half an hour to the Home Depot store here (one of at least 6 in a 50 mile radius), and they told me not only did they not have what was in the flier, they weren't going to get it, couldn't do a raincheck on it because the sku was invalid for that store. The nearest store that DID carry the nailgun was in Farmington, 150 miles away!!!. This is false advertising! Why advertise in a local newspaper in the biggest city in new mexico when no store locally carries the product!. The item doesn't show up on the website either, so I can't order it that way. My husband really wants this nailgun because it is a good buy at the advertised price. I called the customer complaint line that the store gave me, and got no satisfaction that way. The girl, Sheshawna, said that it was a national ad and wasn't false advertising, and she was sorry the item wasn't available on the website or within a reasonable distance. Well, being sorry doesn't make my trip any less fruitless and my husband less upset after getting his hopes up. I am going to several consumer sites, after this and posting my experience there, just so people know about the tricks that Home Depot plays to get people into the store. The item is the Porter Cable Round Head Framing Nailer advertised on page 25 of the flier issued 4/12/2007 and is supposed to be on sale for $199.
