Beyond Fitness Complaint - No one with this company has a clue

Review by JessieK on 2007-04-17
NORTH CAROLINA -- You know, I have to be honest, it was not the actual training I acquired that I am upset about, Beyond Fitness as a company sucks. First of all, all of their contracts have a AUTOMATIC renewal to them, so regardless if you are still using their services or not, they'll charge you for them. Secondly, when you try to cancel your membership with them, they continuously charge you even after cancelation.

My situation: I was receiving personal training from Beyond Fitness for around 6 months. I moved out of the area and was unable to receive my training any more. In the beginning, I contacted their corporate number and they told me there was no way from me to cancel my contract, I just had to wait it out until it was over (a year's time of paying $500.00 a month). I sucked it up and went by their rules. After my year was up, I called to confirm cancellation and the corporate office informed me that they could not cancel it, that I had to contact the gym that I was a member of. I did that and they sent me right back to corporate. This cycle happened TWICE. Finally I got a local number that I called and had to leave a message on a very public voicemail in order to get a hold of anyone. 3 days later I get a call back and am told my contract had been canceled. The following month I was charged yet again for their services. I called yet AGAIN, and this time they told me that I had to submit a written notice 30 days before hand to have my account closed. I did that...keep in mind, I've now invested almost $2000.00 on something I used for 6 months. Today, I get another statement from Beyond Fitness for another $500.00....why, because I still had to pay for the month that my 30 day written cancellation statement did not cover. I have now invested $2500.00 in the worse company I have ever dealt with in my ENTIRE life. I strongly urge EVERYONE to stay away from Beyond Fitness. I could not be any more unhappy with their lack of customer service, lack of professionalism or the lack of knowledge on their procedures.

Why so much $$? My gym is $39.95 a month. Don't you pay for the trainer as you go? Did you sign up for sessions ahead of time?

Take them to court. Take proof that they are cheating you.

$500 a month...that's outrageous. Anyhow, I take it you didn't read your agreement when you signed it? It should indicate the membership automatically renews...if not - take them to court. The agreement should also mention a move that puts you outside of your gym area...if it does and you are owed - take them to court. The unorganized way they handled your cancellation should be pointed out to corporate.
