Web Search Results Complaint - Complaint where the site is located

Review by deedee2 on 2007-04-18
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- My son was doing a report on Wrigley Field in Chicago. He opened a site, Where is Wrigley Field? Web answer. There he came upon a picture of Wrigley Field and it said PORN IN CHICAGO IN SIX and there was nude pictures of this guy advertising his his business. I was very shocked that that site would be in there where my 10 year old is doing a report for school. I do not want him seeing this type of garbage. Something needs to be done.

Thanks, Dolores

If you don't have any kind of parental filter installed on your home computer, I think you'll find that your son may stumble across a lot of inappropriate content while search the web using any search engine like Google or Yahoo, etc. Do some research on parental filtering software... Hopefully some folks here may have some suggestions as well.

That's just how the real world internet is. The responsibility for the content your son sees is entirely on your shoulders.

If your son is using Google go to "Preferences", then click on "Use strict filtering" (Filter both explicit text and explicit images) SafeSearch Filtering. That will help a great deal but not solve the problem. It might be time to have that talk with your son if you have not done so yet. You don't want him learning about this stuff on the Internet.

He was nude and advertizing his business, well that's a wierd way to advertize a business.

I did a Google search with no filtering and nothing bad popped up for webpages and images. Maybe your son is not as innocent as you think.

If your using Windows XP, install a parental program. If you're using Vista, parental program is already built-in ready to use.

Would a parental control block out a search for Wrigley Field? I don't know exactly how those blocks work, I thought it would block certain "suggestive" words that may lead to porn..and I wouldn't think it would block a search for Srigely Field.
