Coca Cola Company Complaint - Coke Rebates

Review by rick4rj on 2007-04-19
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- Beware of Coke rebates. I have been trying to get a $10 rebate since June of 06. They have told me 3 times starting in Jan.07 that the checks in the mail. Each time I call they say to wait 2-4 weeks for delivery, but it never comes. They claim they are not responsible for mail delivery. They don't know what is happening to the check. However, they sent out a $1 coupon for my trouble, and that arrived in 2 days. This tells me they have the correct address, but are just not sending the money. I have written a letter to the CEO and received a call on April 9th from a customer service rep.,who left a message and number on my machine. I responded the same day to his call, but only got an answering machine and no one called back. When I called on April 18, I was first told the case was closed and no check will be sent. On further review by a supervisor she claims another check was sent on the 26th of March, but I need to wait 4-6 weeks for delivery. I can’t believe that such a large company has such poor customer service and has failed to follow through on their rebate offer.

At this point, chalk it up as a loss... Your time is worth more than the $10 or the principle... not the mention the stress it has probably caused you.

Are you sure that the check went to the correct address? Verify that the check is being mailed to the correct address. Don't give up! $10 will get you another pack of Coke!

Maybe end it with another letter to the CEO since you got a response there and tell them you are switching to Pepsi (if their can design doesn't offend you). Then go have a coke and a smile.

I fought with Hawking over a $10.00 rebate one time. The $10.00 became less of an issue once I realized they were doing this on all the rebates they were supposed to pay. I made an issue out of the rebate scam they were running. Under the pressure and bad press I was creating they paid the $10.00 and gave me a free print server. I played the ethics game on them and it worked. These large companies that are playing games with rebates will do the right thing if they think you will hurt their image. Symantec is another one that if chased hard enough will pay up in the end.

You've been dealing with this since 2006. You seem to be a patiant and stubborn person, find a cause worth fighting for. When you look at all the time you've spent fighting this you'll realize that you've wasted more than $10 of your time, and energy. Ethics is important, but learn when to give it up.

You know what I'm thinking is that your probably not alone however your the only one who is talking about it here on "My 3 Cents". Imagine ten dollars that five hundred people didn't get or even a couple thousand people. Boy you'd be in good company if somehow you all got together and lowered the boom on the company for not following through. Anyway ... A few people here told you to not waste your time anymore. However it works out, come back and give an update. Regards.

Anyone wonder if he got several rebates and is saying that he did not get any just to get more. I mean they don't have to give it more than once because of people that keep claiming that they did not get their rebates because people get greedy and lie, perhaps that is what Rick is doing. I bet Rick probably go the rebate five or six times getting $50 or $60 and is really annoyed they caught up to his tricks and he can't get anymore money.

I am not a big fan of rebates. Rebates are ridiculous and are created by companies as a marketing tool. Most companies use rebates in hopes that most people will forget to submit them, or not fill them out right so they can deny your rebate. I recently sent in a few rebates, and got most of them back, except for one. It was for Pepperidge Farm cheese crisps. Try them free. I submitted and filled everything out and sent it in. I still have not received it. You know, it was only for like $3.50. Something small like that but to me, its not the point. If Pepperidge farm does this to everyone, they are making a HUGE profit by scamming people. Its the principle. To me, they are ruining their reputation and I certainly will think twice about buying any of their products the next time I'm in the grocery store.

I love rebates and have never been stiffed on one. Could there be someone watching your mail for a check?
