Mercury Insurance Complaint - Mercury BAD - Auto Insurance

Review by smogdog on 2007-04-19
OCEANSIDE, CA 92056, USA, CALIFORNIA -- I was rear ended twice in the same month with two different cars insured by Mercury. Luckily, the damage caused by an under-insured motorist, was supposed to have been covered by my (Mercury) collision that I had.

I took my vehicle, a 1995 mercedes S420 to a shop recommended by Merc. They had my car for a combined time of three months! because they did not want to pay for new parts, but the used parts were no good, causing weeks of delay in repair. Of course they knew that I had no rental car ins., so they had all the time in the world.

Then, the radio reception did not work properly. They twisted and turned to get out of this problem and have not repaired it to this day. I was forced to make dozens of visits to Mercedes dealer, radio experts and body shop, to no avail.
Then, I lost the muffler because the repair to the rear ender was done so lousy. In between I received nasty letters by the head of claims department in effect accusing me that I made all this up. Unbelievable.

I cannot recommend Mercury and have since changed companies.

Insurance companies are obligated by law to restore your car to pre-accident condition. You are not required to use a shop recommended by them. Looks like it may be time to contact the CA state insurance commissioner
