Review by bertram on 2007-04-23
They emailed me sating "I Won The Lottery" and they had 1,000,000 British pounds for me. When I replied I was told I would have to put money up to receive my funds.

I got this same email (3 times over the weekend). It is a fraud/spam email! Do not call them or give them any information!

This scam has been around for years now. They send you a fake check, you cash it and send them money, then the check comes back as a fraud and your bank goes nuts on you. The other version is they just convince a person to send them money. Thousands of people let the greed take over good judgment and fall for it. You were one of the smart ones and did not get taken, right?

Yep, this one of the many Internet Frauds out there. You are not going to win a lottery you never entered. You do not have a long lost relative that died in Hong Kong and left you millions of dollars. You have not won a special scholarship from the Russian government, and so on, and think about it, no law firm in the world is going to use a free hotmail, or yahoo email address. The best way to deal with these jerks is not to respond to them, but forward the entire email to their ISP, at Abuse. For example it won’t stop them but it slows them down a little.

Please ignore them, but I have some ocean-front property for sale, located in balmy North Dakota! Why do so many people fall for these scams?

Did you even enter a lottery?
