United Parcel Service Complaint - Damaged Merchandise
HAMMOND, IDAHO -- I mailed a package from Mail Boxes, Etc. on March 5, 2002 from Laguna Beach, California. I insured the package for $200.00 and paid $36.13 to have it delivered to Hammond, Indiana. I boxed myself, allowing the required 2' of packing material to the box. The box was an NEC Computer Monitor box - extra heavy duty. It arrived damaged on March 11, 2002. I was told UPS had to pick it up and inspect it. They picked it up on April 2, 2002. Although they continued to leave notices that they needed to pick up a damaged package. On April 9, 2002, I contacted the local Mail Boxes, Etc., with whom I had filed the original damage report and they had just received the damaged package, but had no clue what was going on or what to do with it. I was told it would take two to three weeks to check into it - but because I packed it myself, the insurance would probably not cover the item!
To help keep me as a potential future customer, I would like the following:
I would like to be contacted and reimbursed for the damaged item before another 7 weeks go by.
At the very least I would like a response from your company regarding this incident. Thank you for your time.
