Power Sports Unlimited Complaint - Purchase of a defective dirt bike in Dec of 06

Review by Stokes on 2007-05-03
DOTHAN, ALABAMA -- I purchased a dirt bike from the above dealer in Dec of 06 for my grandson. The first bike I purchased never left the store because the serviceman could not get it to run (this was a new bike) the owner called and told me that for an additional amount of money which I paid he would give me a larger better bike. I am a 57 year old grandmother by the way. The first month the chain came off and broke the sprocket.

I took it back to the dealer and for $125.00 (less than 60 days from date of purchase) he replaced the chain and sprocket. the 2nd time he rode it the chain came off again. We took it back to the dealer (less than 120 days from date of purchase) after a week he called and informed me that because the chain came off it messed up the engine and for $350.00 he will replace the engine. Is this right?

I don't know anything about dirt bikes, but it sounds like you may have been saddled with a lemon.
Either that or it's being abused, but I would think that dirt bikes are meant to take hard usage (within reason, anyway).

Was there some sort of a warranty(I would think so)?

What brand is it, and what did it cost? There's a local dealer where I live that sells a brand made in China, and they are basically like everything else made there: junk.

Unfortunately Dirt Bikes do not come with any type of warranty. The only ones that did I believe was Yamaha aand that was for engine only for 30 days.

Was your grandson abusing the machine?

Stokes - Read my complaint. I am in Dothan too and these people are the absolute worst business people I have ever seen. The quality is awful and the owner couldn't care less about anything other than getting your money. He has ruined Christmas for my family!

I bought an ATV from Power Sport Unlimited in Dothan for my son and the frame broke the first day he rode it. Now they are closed or closing down and I cannot get my money back.
