WRAL a CBS affiliate in Raleigh Complaint - Decision to show CP telethon instead of contracted golf coverage of a tournament

Review by pcush on 2002-04-21
CHAPEL HILL, NORTH CAROLINA -- The PGA has a contract with CbS for coverage of all major tournaments. A local station should not have the right to pre-empt the final day of a tournament with a telethon for cerebral palsy. There are many diseases and afflictions in our world, I should not have to be subjected to any particular one because the local Television station decides that is a priority for them. The PGA needs to look more closely at it's contract with CBS. I'd like to know who won the worldcom classic!!!

If you want to know who won, turn on ESPN or go online. Television airtime should not be wasted on such a useless "sport" as golf.

I agree... Golf is one of the most boring wastes of time ever... I use it as a sleep aid. Whenever I can't sleep I just watch some golf...ZZZZZZ

I would be dissappointed too (if I cared about golf)but it's kinda hard to be critical about their choice. If you knew someone with the illness, you would applaud the decision.

I think CBS has a contract that allows them to show golf not requires them to show golf. If a local station decides not to it, you need to take it up with them. The PGA got there money so they don't care. And your local station decided that instead of broadcasting golf with low paying commercials to broadcast a telethon with no advertising revenue. Says alot for golf.

Get over it.

Have you ever heard of this item called the NEWSPAPER? And you've evidently heard of the magic of the internet, because you've quite clearly managed to fat-finger your way here. CHECK ESPN.COM, GENIUS!! And by the way, WATCHING golf on TV is about as close to becoming an inanimate object as you can get.
