Lasic Vision Institute Complaint - Lasic Eye Surgery

Review by magnolia on 2007-05-09
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- Please do not let this company do your eye surgery. When i first had it done 3 years ago they did the wrong surgery. It was horrible. I couldn't see for a long time. They redid it in one year (not an enhancement). It totally completely messed up my eyesight. I have been to 5 specialist. They all told me i was never a candidate for this surgery. I have had to give up my job with the police department and am on disability. When i asked for my money back they said only if i signed a release which unfortunately i did. I did not know at the time the extreme extent of damage to my eyes. I tried to sue and because of the release i cannot sue. I wrote a letter to the doctor but never heard a word from him, not even an "i'm sorry".

In California if they screw up your eye(s) they send you to an arbitrator. You get less money than with a lawsuit, but still you are compensated. Did you actual contact a few lawyers or were you just told you couldn't sue? I think you need to pursue this further.

Go burn down the doctor's house that screwed up your eyes. Sight is a precious thing to be fooling around with.

ejack - That's just stupid. Arson is a crime and if someone is killed in the commission of that crime then they'd be looking at capital murder. In Georgia the chances are good that means DEATH row. I find your advice and advocating of possible suicide to be reckless, ill conceived and not at all star worthy.

I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you...Did you do any research on the company AND the doctor before you went to them? I had lasic surgery done three years ago and I'd do it again in a second. BUT, I did alot of research before deciding on a doctor. There were alot out there that did not impress me at all...then I found on who has had over 300,000 succesful surgeries with only one patient that developed a problem. That patient's problem occured because they did not follow the after surgery proceedure and did not use the medical eyedrops as perscribed and they got an infection that caused alot of problems...but it wasn't because of the doctor. People have to go through with the after surgery care. If I were you I would still look into a lawsuit...lawyers can always find loopholes...tell them you signed the paper but you were unable to read it because of your eyesight being messed up. Good luck to you...if nothing else, just do what you cn to get the word out to others. If you have any investigative teams from your local news channels, drop them off a letter, they can investigate and see how many people has had the same problem with them...just don't give up.

Stew...I don't care about your so called frigin "stars". Let someone blind you Stew and see how you feel. You never been blinded before but I have and it took 2 years of time and endless visits to eye doctors to correct it for someones negligence. The eye doctor who screwed me ended up getting his butt kicked when I had my vision restored. Thankfully the Air Force granted me back on flight status otherwise I would have been out of a career. Furthermore Stew, you can kiss my entire butt if you don't like it. I feel for this poster and hope they get satisfaction to the fullest...I admit I am out of line saying to burn the doctor's house down but no way I would let this doctor go or no legal!

EJ, I agree!

Stew you have been served.

To the poster I wish you the best od luck with your eye's. I can only say I hope you get the doc in court and at least get money out of his sorry ass.

Mags, you have my sympathy but I must say that if you qualified for a job with the APD with that kind of sentence structure then I am afraid for the citizens of Atlanta! Consult an attorney again ASAP. Good luck.

I gotta agree with Ejack on this one.

I understand why ejack wrote that. You cannot put a price on precious eyesight.

I think that doctor should operate on himself. Then he will know what it's like to have a botched surgery, and lose his vision.

It's really a sad story, and I am very sorry that you have the misfortune of losing your vision.

Seek an attorney.

That should say "loose" his vision.

No, Lose was right. Lose is when you lost...Loose is when you take your bra off.

So wear bra's that aren't fitted for you? How much tissue do you stuff in them.

Pay attention EJ...I said when you take it off...not when you're wearing can we get back to the poster's subject???
