Perry Ford of Poway Complaint - Ranger no Go Fast - New Car
POWAY, CALIFORNIA -- Following is the body of the letter I wrote to Ford about 2 weeks ago. No positive response from anyone yet.
First let me say that I am a long time Ford owner and will continue to be in spite of the current difficulties I am having.
I recently purchased a 2002 Ford Ranger from Perry Ford of Poway. I am TOTALLY dissatisfied with the buying experience and after sale follow up. Prior to the purchase my online inquiries and phone calls were quickly responded to. Bobby Ruiz was on top of all concerns. Now it is frustrating getting adequate answers to my concerns.
I finally set an appointment for service and am happy with the shuttle service but thatís about where the good feelings end. My main concern is the fact the truck WILL NOT exceed 90 mph under any circumstance. I am told (by Clint Rice and Mario) that this is a design feature and cannot be corrected without voiding the warranty!!! I am UPSET!!! I was told by Mario that I am the first customer to bring this up and that it shouldn't matter since it is illegal to go that fast. Had I known this I WOULD NOT have purchased this vehicle. I cannot imagine an automobile manufacturer adding this "feature" and thinking it would be just fine to not mention it to the prospective buyer. Who in the heck would think to ask if the vehicle had a speed governor??? A rev limiter I could see but a flipping speed limiter, get out of here!! This is America!! We chose to drive fast, to drive gas guzzlers, to drive bright green painted cars, to drive to the corner store and so on. The point is WE CHOSE!! I want this corrected or I want Perry Ford to take this darn truck back!!!
VERY upsettingly yours,
