Crawford Furniture DBA Emily's Furniture Complaint - Stores Located Throughout Arizona are FRAUDULENT RIP OFF ARTISTS

Review by Stephen & Jamie on 2007-05-11
MULTIPLE, ARIZONA -- The owners of the furniture stores known as Crawford Furniture have recently started doing business as (DBA) Emily's Furniture & Emily's Kids Furniture as well. All of these stores sell substandard products as well as have no intention of delivering to you the merchandise you think you are buying in the first place! If they do, you are lucky, but it won't last long because it is still not the quality they lead you to believe it is! We have first-hand experience with these people and are now out thousands of dollars! After years of problems, we have neither the furniture we purchased, nor our money to show for it!!! They have a terrible record with the Better Business Bureau, and reports have been filed against them with the Bad Business Bureau (www.ripoffreport.com) as well!!! For years these people have done nothing but steal from the citizens of Arizona all across the state!!!

ALL BUYERS BEWARE!!! DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER WALKING INTO THEIR STORE TO LOOK AROUND!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! IF YOU ARE READING THIS TOO LATE AND THEY HAVE ALREADY GOTTEN YOU TOO, THAN PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS AND MAYBE WE CAN HELP EACH OTHER OUT! WE ARE NOT LETTING THEM GET AWAY WITH IT. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE AND ARE TAKING LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THEM. THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS.

Do you mind my asking how you know of their name change?

They are a corporation they have to list any Trade Names or DBA Names with the Secretary of State, the Attorney General, the BBB, etc. You can find the info in any of these places. The registered Business name is Crawford Furniture, INC. They will be the registered Owner/Agent. I have actual names of people, but I don't think I should list them here. Do a search with any of these places and you will find the info yourself. You could also search the StarPass website. Now they are trying to actually officially acquire the company name Emily's Furniture instead of just using it as DBA. The application is still pending. If you don't mind me asking, have you had dealings with this company? Why are you asking?

Thanks for the info! No I haven't done any business with them, just curious and it certainly seems you know your stuff!

Stephen and Jamie told you correctly, Sarah. In Arizona, you are required to have your business license and transaction privilege tax license (sales tax,) clearly posted in your place of business. If you are not using your legal name, i.e. Sarah's Cookies, then your license has to show what your business name is, or your DBA. In the example I started, it would be Sarah May DBA Heavenly Cookies. Further, if you want your DBA protected, you must register it with the Secretary of State.
