United States Land Co. Informative - Real Estate Scam? - Real Estate Sales

Review by Willie Guy on 2007-05-12
FLORIDA -- My 86 year old Mother owns real estate in Florida which is listed for sale through a legitimate realtor.

She received a call from United States Land Co. which proposed that they could sell her land in 7 to 10 days for 110% of her asking price. Of course they want a small fee of $625.

My assumption is that this is a scam but I wonder if this Company exists and the natire of their complaint record. Any information that may be provided will be most appreciated.

I googled United States Land Co. and didn't find anything relevant. It sounds like a scam to me. I don't think any reputable real estate agent would say they can sell in 7-10 days for more than your asking price. The fee is also a red flag in my book. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

You know what they say: "If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is." And this sounds like it qualifies. Counter offer them: "Find me a buyer willing to pay 110% THEN I will pay your $625.00 at closing." I'm betting they are not interested. Keep your money. Let the REAL Realtor do his job. You will be far better off.

A couple of us researched this company on a previous thread a couple months ago. We found the company to be a fraud with lots of complaints.

Verify that it's real by contacting the state Real Estate Commission. If you sell land that is not personally yours, you must be a licensed real estate agent/company!
