MacKay Heating and Mechanical Services Compliment - Great all-around home services company

Review by Sparticus on 2007-05-14
CHICAGO SUBURBS, ILLINOIS -- I've worked with MacKay on a number of home projects in the past, and just thought I would put out my recommendation for them in case any one is looking for a good home engineer. MacKay is a family owned business here in the Chicago suburbs. The owner, John, is always very helpful in not only fixing whatever problem we have (Sump pump failure, water softner, well pressure tanks, electrical, etc), but he also takes the time to explain how everything works so I can help maintain my systems properly and avoid problems in the future.

My recent experience with them has been more of the same. We needed a new air conditioning unit (our last one was 25 years old). John first had quoted me that it might cost around $2500 (what we were seeing from other shops) but he would shop around to find me a good deal. Well he just called and said he found a good new compatible unit and it was only going to cost us $1800 installed.

Last year when our old unit died on us in the middle of a bad heat spell... John came out at 9pm at night with a flashlight and fixed (recharged) our system...

I really appreciate everything he has done to help us over the years and hope this review helps someone else in my area who might be looking for someone they can trust...

Thanks for the tip! It's always hard to find a good contractor, so if I ever move to the Chicago area I'll look him up!
