Cingular Wireless Complaint - $3,084 Cell Phone Bill!
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- I have a 13-year old son with special needs. He goes to a special school in downtown San Diego, 30 miles from my home. I provide him with a cell phone for emergencies. In September 24, 2006 I walked into a Cingular Store and I told them to block Internet and text messaging services. I had just received a $600 cell phone bill for text messaging, so I wanted the practice to cease. I was assured that this had been taken care of. On March 27, 2007 - WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME - Cingular ran a "screen" per their company policy and noticed I did not have Internet and text messaging on my phones and then proceeded to RESTORE THESE SERVICES WITH ZERO NOTIFICATION TO ME! My son ran up $2,800 in Internet charges IN ONE MONTH as a result. At this stage Cingular is willing to waive half ($1,400). I told them waive ALL charges or I go to the FCC and the local investigative reporter on TV. My case is still under Cingular review. But this is a cautionary tale for ALL who have cell phones (Who doesn't?)that cell services you thought were removed can be restored per their policy without your knowledge. Be warned.
