Island Tanning and Nails Informative - Rude , Arrogant and Disgustingly bad customer relations

Review by Zmann on 2007-05-20
FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON -- Dear Sir and Madame

I have my own business and from time to time I make unannounced visits to business owners to see if there is a fit for my services. In my industry there have been 7 price increases in the last three years. With my group we have raised our prices twice ! When I stopped in to speak with the business owner , she wasn't in I talked with a very nice lady. She told me that the owner would be back in a hour or so. So I came back and she then talked to a lady named ( Holly ) she said to my lady " I am not interested " I said to my lady " hmmm? is she the owner ? ' She said " No the owner will be here tomorrow" So the next day , I actually had a large party that needed to have their Nails done and Tanning done that I am friends with ( about 10 people ) and so when I stopped in the next day I was told by my lady " She isn't interested " so I said " She the owner ? " " No " she said. So then this Holly starts glaring at me , and says " I TOLD YOU I WASN'T INTERESTED , WHY ARE YOU HERE EVERYDAY !!! " She didn't even bother to find out why I was there , I was trying to get some information for the wedding party on their services. SO now I am going to tell their Chamber of Commerce how rude they are and everyone else I can think of that these people are absolutely the worst ones to deal with on any level of business. I was totally embarrassed for her and her lack of common decency, if they weren't interested and she is the owner fine ! But SHE ISN'T EVEN THE OWNER AND AT BEST A LOW LEVEL LEAD !!!!!

I want everyone to know about how they treat people , I think also that the health dept should check into the cleanliness of the place. They have old wax laying around there, and their Nail Spa tubs look dirty around the drain. The carpets are really nasty and dirty. It doesn't look like they do much cleaning , old nails all over the floor. So two things ,first of all cleanliness and personal service is terrible. The other has to do with her lack of English , ( or at least portraying this ) ( Holly's that is ) and that she has no business being in this business, and because of her complete unprofessionalism she lost out on a wedding party for about 10 people who needed manicures and pedicures and also waxing and facials. So each lady was going to spend about $150.00 each there , so she just threw away $1,5000.00 out the door.

Thank you for your consideration

Which is it? You were going to bring $1500 of business before OR after you noticed how dirty the place was/and, how rude the staff was?

Sounds like the mafia at work. If you don't buy Zmann's services your business is smeared on the internet.

To be honest, I wonder if it was a communication problem on your part. Instead of saying "I have a bridal party that may want to visit for a service package" you made it as clear as mud what you wanted...at least in your post in the beginning. I thought you were trying to sell them a service or something...from your own post.

Why would you be interested in frequenting a business that was as dirty and filthy as you say it was? Are you a former employee?

Well in response to the first comment , I was first trying to contact the business owner to see If I could get an appt with her. On the second try ,and when they flat out lied to me I started to make some mental notes about the place. Just a heads up to everybody on the wax and cleanliness issue ? There have been two other nail shops in the Seattle area ( one in Renton Star Nails next to Fred Meyer ) and the other in Tacoma ( off of Portland ave ) THAT BOTH BURNED DOWN HAD EXACTLY THE SAME ATTITUDE TOWARDS ME AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THEIR TWO FIRES WERE STARTED BY NOT PROPERLY DISPOSING OF THEIR WAX! One more side note , I have been refferred by two other merchants in this complex ( Federal Way past the Aquatics center ) and had to politely tell them : "I can't work with them sorry "

Ya need to set up your cold calls better with more information.
You have the name and address of the place. Do you know who runs it and did you call to make an appointment?
If your calls were not returned, they are not interested.

Evidently you haven't had a lot of experience in cold call selling.. Having done the same thing for 40 years before I retired, I learned very quickly that no one makes a sale with every call or call back. In this particular case I'd advise you to stop wasting time on an insincere prospect.
For every jerk like this, there is a viable customer next door or down the street that WILL buy.
Cold call sales is simply a numbers game and the only formula for success is this....
remember.. Calls X Interviews =Sales

Another thing that you need to know is what all cold call salespeople find out, to wit, "the harder you worker, the luckier you get"!!
Good luck Zmann, go forth and sell....
