Audiovox Complaint - Battery Pack - Portable DVD 1780

Portable DVD 1780 - Complaint
Review by Ears on 2007-05-21
TEXAS -- We bought our kids an Audiovox portable DVD with batttery pack for Christmas in Dec. 2006. By April 2007, the battery packs were not charging anymore. When I call the company I was told that they only had a 90 day warranty and that a new pack could only be purchased thru them at a cost of over $80!!!! We paid just a little more than that for the DVD player!!!!! Where is the responsbility for their product. Only a 90 warranty? Never again.

Batteries can sometimes be the most expensive component of such devices... Companies will skimp on the quality of the battery to bring the cost down.... like in this case. Does it have a AC/DC adapter? I'd get one that plugs into the car and skip the new battery... you'll probably just need another one in 6 more months...

Its the same with most battery packs, like my cell phone cost 19 bucks when I got it and now the battery will cost $40 to replace. Its just the way they get to you.
