High Gear Auto Complaint - Don't Buy A Car From High Gear Auto On 245 Linden Blvd

Review by latoyaterrell on 2007-05-23
ELMONT, NEW YORK -- I purchased a car from High Gear Auto in the month of April. I had the car for about 3 weeks before the problems began. I purchased a 2003 Toyota Camry for 10,000 and I left a deposit of $1,200 down. I was given the car without plates but, a temporary plate was issued. High Gear contacted me when the expiration date ended and asked for the car back because they weren't funded by the bank (drive financial). I then called Drive Financial and spoke with Marsherri and she advised me to call back the following Monday to resolve the issue. I called Marsherri on a Saturday, May 19, 2007. On Monday morning of May 21, 2007 I woke up and the car was gone. High Gear took the car without alerting me with my belonging in the car and all the proof that I even had purchased the car from them. The only proof I have is Drive Financial because they have the loan information on file that I was approved for. They just don't have the loan contract because High Gear failed to send it in. So now I am stuck without a car, no $1,200 deposit back, and my belonging that was still in the car.

A very good idea is to NEVER leave the lot with a vehicle without financing guaranteed at a decent rate. I won't take delivery of the vehicle until the financing paperwork is approved and signed. Occasionally takes a few extra days, but avoids quite a few possible issues, including yours. Don't take a salesman's word for it, get it in writing.

This post has holes in it. Dealers issue stickers/temporary plates for a min. of 30 days and udually 60 to 90. So in that amount of time you're financing never went thru?? And you had no paperwork when you first took the car off the lot??? The dealership would not wait beyone a few days to start calling you for the return of the car if financing falls thru...
