Citifinancial--AUTO Complaint - Unlawful draft of MY money
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- Yesterday I decided to be nice and pay my fiance's car note--which was about $700. It was due yesterday, but I was paying by phone, so it would have cleared prior to the close of the day. When I called, I was informed that there was a LATE fee already (even though this is the day it was due) of $35, and that there was a $15 PROCESSING fee thanks to western union. The customer service rep who I spoke with assured me that she had waived the $15 fee and that only $738 would be drafted. Today, when I checked my online banking, they had drafted the $15 which put me into overdraft, which in turn caused a $35 overdraft fee courtesy of my bank. When I inquired as to why I was told one thing, and another happened, the "boss" at CF said he has no idea why I would ever think that the $15 would be waived because HIS representatives were not authorized to waive that fee. Thanks Citi. You obviously put your customer's first.
