SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA -- Said customers husband had called in the late afternoon to inform that his wife had failed to put the car in park and it had rolled into the garage door. I had explained to him we were very booked that afternoon and i would send someone the next morning which was saturday and we do not charge extra for weekends and if i could get someone there any sooner i would call him. when my technician arrived saturday morning and worked an order up for a new garage door and presented to the customer he signed and gave a credit card for the 1st half which we require for every door we sell. When the wife had failed to discuss with her husband that someone else had already sold her a door the previous day, is a mistake in communication on her part not ours. Our company was simply trying to take of the customers needs. When they called on Monday morning after they had realized their mistake to cancel their door order payment had already been processed and door was on its way. She rudely accused me of taking advantage of the ederly and went off about contracts haveing 3 days to cancel. I explained that was not our contract policy and that i had taken advantage of no one. Our company policy we charge a flat $40 service call to everyone and 10% restocking fee on all cancelled door orders. I made this customer happy by refunnding everything and charging her nothing. We have very good standings with all of our customers, especially the ederly in several locations nationwide. We believe in taking care of our customers which is what did for this customer. Clearly all she did for us was take out her frustations from her little mishap with her vehicle going thru her garage door on us. Thank you.

Sounds like you were very fair to the customer. Too bad there aren't more businesses like you.

HUGE points to you. The mere fact that the husband and wife couldn't even communicate to each other they both had ordered garage doors (we're not talking about picking up fast food or a duplicate rental movie!!) would have pissed me off. Well handled.

Sioux Falls, I remember it well. Went to radio school there during WW II. Thank you very much for your thoughtfulness. For those that have not yet reached their 80s, it may be hard to understand how hard it is to cope with every day problems. Also, you cant imagine how many people out there will take advantage of us elderly. Just recently, I had a cupon for a 9.95 oil change at a local dealership. I heard the service manager tell the cashier to charge me for three extra quarts of oil, that I wouldn't know it only used five. What he didn't know was I had just gotten a new hearing aid.
