Travellers Insurance Company Complaint - Hail Claim Denied

Review by StickitotheMan on 2007-05-24
ALABAMA -- BEWARE OF TRAVELLERS INSURANCE!

We made a claim to Travellers for Hail Damage to our roof that occured last year. The claims adjuster immediately told us that we did not have hail damage because we had architectual shingles! Oh it get worse:( Then he refused to climb on the roof due to a sinus infection. It took a week for someone else to climb on the roof and acknowledge that we had a hail storm come through the area, yet he only offered to pay for the hail damage on the A/C condenser- $200. Gee, Thanks. He said that the roof had to much caulking around the chimney, and the hail damage was not significant enough for a replacement. Then his story was that the roof appeared to be of poor workmanship ie; there was caulking around the chimney. Whoo! We had several roofing companies tell us we had hail damage to our entire roof. Our entire subdivision had hail damage however,I guess it just missed our roof.I have a sneaky suspision that they did not want to pay the $$$$$ to replace our architectual shingles. We have since dropped Travellers Insurance and replaced their incompetency with a local & reputable company who has a history of helping people when they truely need an insurance claim fulfilled.

You could always move to California where we don't have hail that damages roofs.

If you disagree with the adjuster, request an arbitration hearing, and have some proof of other claims in the neighborhood. Good luck.
