DirecTV Inc Complaint - Misleading information
PALM BAY, FLORIDA -- In June of 2006 I sign up for Direct Tv, I was looking to lower my cable bill. My local phone company (Bellsouth)had a package that included Cable, Phone and Internet, so I signed up for it. Since day 1 I had nothing but problems, I got the wrong dish and it took another week to get someone to come back and get me the correct dish. After that every time there was rain (hard/soft)I will loose my signal, 2 months later my DVR box was not working and I was told that I will have to reset it with over the phone but will loose any saved programs I had on it. (AHHHHHH)I had to do it anyway in order to comply with there commands (exactly COMPLY). The customer service department (OMG terrible), got hung up several times, told I would have a $100 penalty if I cancel my contract, that I would have to wait 1 yr to get out of my contract. So I decided to wait my year, In May of 2007 I contacted Direct TV to get my exact day in June so I can get my local cable company to install my cable service. To my surprise because I had a DVR my contract was for 2 yrs and not once as I was told in Sept 06 that I had a 2 yr contract, nor any of the time I tried to call and get someone to resolve my signals problems. As a consumer without any right according to Direct TV, I will be penalized $12.50 per month if I want to cancel my subscription to Direct TV, that I could write a letter to there HQ in Colorado for them to review. People before commiting to a satelitte dish company you need to research and have them send you in writing what are the terms and conditions. They are con-artists.
