Volkswagon Complaint - Transmission goes out after only 55,000 miles - Beetle

Beetle - Complaint
Review by Denyse on 2007-05-28
SALINAS, CALIFORNIA -- I drive this car in the most gentle manner. I keep it maintained. I average 4 to 5 visits to the repair shop a year since buying the car new. Now the transmission needs to be rebuilt. Stay away from Volkswagens. The only thing it has going for it is the design. The headaches aren't worth it.

How old is the car?

Yeah, some cars just have crappy transmissions. Mine died in my Sable at about 55, too. It was under warranty, so it was replaced (with a crappy refurbished transmission) by the dealership and it's now failing again. It's good to know which are which when it comes to cars because (as I'm sure you know) transmissions don't come cheap! Thanks for the review.
