Review by ginnie on 2007-05-29
HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT -- To Whom it may concern:

I always go to TJmaxx, but the manager in the store does not like that idea. He makes me feel uncomfortable, to the point that I talk to him and find myself talking to his back. This has got to the point that even the employees has got the same "attitude" that the store manager has for me. example of this, the people working See's me and they will Yell out "Again? lets give her a job here. I have to go to other TJmaxx store to avoid felling bad. But this one is really close to my house, please help me. even my family members has heard comments made to me. I don't know how much I could take and I try to avoid saying something to them but I come home and cry... I'm going thru depression due to the fact that I have cancer, and this is the only means I know to cheer me up. this has been like I said an on going thing since 2 years. The store is locate at Silas Deanne highway and the manager is a male man with glasses.

Thank you for your help.

I'm sorry to hear of your cancer situation. Ask to talk to the manager and work this out. If that is not possible then simply do not go to that store again. Put it behind you. The added stress should be avoided.

Keep going to that particular TJ Maxx that was giving you a hard time. You are only a customer there and they should treat you like a customer. Be persistant and write to the corporate to voice your concern.

What in the world? They're making fun of you because you frequent their store? I thought repeat customers were a *good* thing. I'm sorry it makes you feel bad. Some people are just jerks. I say take your business elsewhere.

How often do you go there and do you make purchases or just "visit"?

Maybe the original author can't work since she has been diagnosed with cancer, and the best way she knows how to avoid going stir-crazy might be just shopping for shoes, even if she DOESN't buy anything. Maybe when that's one of the ways she passes the time. Kudos to all the rest of you who responded in a positive manner!

Keep shopping there. When someone says something rude, walk over to that person and say "I know you are tired of seeing me here so much, but I just love shopping here and it helps me get over my depression". If you tell one of them that the rest will hear it shortly and you will probably get much better treatment. That is if they are not completely heartless.

When the employees make a comment, have some handy replies ready...such as "Yep, you ought to hire me, I know your store better than most of you by now!" or "What's the starting wage?". Say it in a joking manner, and they may soon realize you aren't "casing the joint" but are simply window shopping and are willing to make conversation (often appreciated when they aren't busy). Call the corporate number and NICELY explain the problem, and they may help with backing off the manager. And of course, make an occasional small purchase so you are helping with their bottom line.

I'm sorry about the cancer, but I think we are missing something here.
