Gaelic Storm Compliment - Well worth the cost of tickets!
Holy fiddlin' bagpipes!!
My fiancé and I went to see the band Gaelic Storm last night and it was, in my opinion, the very best show I've seen.
If you're into Irish music, you'll love it. If you're indifferent to Irish music, you'll love it. If you hate Irish music, you may feel a tad out of place, but I'm still confident in saying you'll LOVE it.
They're what you'd call a "traditional Irish/Celtic band", in that they play full instrumental Irish tunes and drinking songs. They've got a new fiddle player - Jessie - who is phenomenal. Peter plays the bagpipes, both traditional and electronic.
They're a very "fun" band to see, they do a lot to involve the crowd and by the time we left, my hands stung from clapping, my throat stung from whooping and I - a mere audience member - was covered in happy Irish sweat.
They've got a comedic bend, as well, and like to tell jokes between songs which actually are quite funny. The lead singer did a Led Zeppelin impression that blew me away, and a Snoop Dog impression that was not half bad for an Irish dude!
They returned promptly to the stage for encore and played two songs for it which, needless to say, were fantastic.
I would definitely recommend seeing them. Tickets for the show we saw were $18 minus TicketMaster fees, which we didn't pay because we bought the tickets at a local Irish import shop. Here is a link to their tour dates: http://gaelicstorm.musiccitynetworks.com/index.htm?id=5430
If you're able - GO! You will not regret it.
