Ameriquest Mortgage Company Complaint - Totally Upset! - Mortgage Payoff

Review by resa on 2007-05-31
NORTH CAROLINA -- I am an existing customer of ameriquest mortgage company and I am planning to refinance... All I needed was a "payoff" amount.... Have you ever heard of a company who has to have 5 to 10 days to give a customer a payoff!!! Times are tough for a lot of people these days.. But something as simple as a payoff should not cause even more stress to a person... I was told that the president "does not take phone calls" but I am sure he don't have a problem taking our "money" after what I have went through. i would definitely refinance with some other company than ameriquest mortgage.. When I asked to speak with the president.... I was told "that's not gonna happen". I will not stop until I do speak with the "president". I promise.

It usually takes a few days for mortgage companies to calculate your payoff - they have to figure it to the exact penny and they have to figure it to the exact day you plan to do the refinance. Don't make more out of this that it is - your new mortage company knows how it works and they can proceed with just an estimate.

I have to agree with Hugh. 5 to 10 days is not an outragous amount of time and its probably going to take weeks to refinance anyway, so what's the big deal? Also, if you think you are going to talk to the President of a company as large as Ameriquest then you are living in a fantasy world.

"takes a few days for mortgage companies to calculate your payoff" - What, do they use an abacus? Please, with computers it should take all of a micro second to compute. Too funny!

It isn't just the mortgage involved all the time. There is escrow, taxes, checking for liens, etc. Its not like calling for a payoff on your car.

I have Countrywide as my mortgage holder and I can get a payoff statement online in 2 seconds.

I don't care if they have to calculate the precise orbital position of the earth it still shouldn't take more than a micro-second.

I agree that it shouldn't take days. And in a 5 to 10 day span rates change, promotions change...why should the customer have to wait that much longer in the process. Silliness. I can get my payoff online ASAP as well.
