For the past few months ComEd has engaged in a multi channel advertising blitz in an effort to get Illinois residents to encourage their Illinois State Representativesto approve the outrageous and unjustified rate increase ComEd, "an Exelon company" is demanding. The ads are repetitive, annoying and misleading. In one of them they state that the money they've offered to help "people who need it most" pay their bills does not come from their customers but directly from the company. How can this be? Their money comes from their customers. Personally, I would like to know how many millions of dollars they have paid to run this advertising and how much of a salary increase their CEO stands to get if they get their increase. I would like to remind everyone that several years ago when Chicago experienced terrible outages during the worst heat of the summer, Mayor Daley's investigators found that COMED had not lived up to its' contractual obligations to upgrade and maintain equipment for several years. The outages were the result of this failure on Comed's part. The only reason repairs and upgrades were eventually made was because Mayor Daley threatened to cancel their contract. Comed is not now and never has been an honorable company. The rate increase they are seeking is for purposes of corporate greed and not to give any "help to people who need it."
