GC Services LP Complaint - Student Loan - Financial aid thru the US Department of EDU

Review by Elexes on 2007-06-04
JACKSON, MICHIGAN -- They called me on making a payment on my loan that I've had since 1990. They said I couldn't just make a payment any time I wanted to and if I did they would count it towards the money I owed but would still go after me on a debt. Every time I got a balance sheet showing how much I owed the balance went up.

A 17 year old student loan? How much do you owe?

By any chance, did you put your student loan into forebearance a few times??

I never heard of a student load for 17 years. Isn't it the usual 10 years to pay back???

That should read "forbearance".

Skye - My girl friend is very vain about her spelling too. If my GF misspells a word in an EMAIL (like once every six months) she'll send another EMAIL correcting the original. Heck, sometimes two or three days later and I have to wonder what the statute of limitations are for her proofreading her own EMAIL.

Stew, I am the same with my emails. I don't think it's being vain, it's just our thing.

Not such a bad thing is it??

Wow, you really think you can just pay on a loan whenever you want?
The amount keeps going up because of interest - if you don't understand that, you need to contact whatever college you attended for a refund...and your old high school, too.

Well said runaway.

Another case of someone messing up their financial manners, then acting all surprised that the lender wants their money, without any consequences.

Try dealing with Assocates of the Government.
It isn't easy and it isn't done overnight.
Unless you know the whole story- Back up.
We came here looking for help- not more ignorant people.

Of course the balance goes up, you aren't paying off the loan, and you are getting late fees and interest. You might want to closely follow that lawsuit from the young lady who said she didn't get the education she needed.
