Priceline.com Compliment - Exception to refund policy
I wanted to report a positive on priceline service, and maybe it will benefit somebody here. I booked a request on priceline for 2 rooms for 1 night. The original request of $45 for a 2-star hotel was denied, so I went to $50 and added another location. Still denied, so I bumped to $75 and selected what i thought was another location. The offer was accepted, but for a one-star hotel. The 1-star had exterior corridors and looked like, well, a 1-star hotel. Of course this is not what I wanted, but I went back to the "Shop&Save" feature of priceline and it turns out that the hotel that I paid $75 for was listed on their own website at $59 per night. Now I'm really mad, and I call up customer service. I explain the situation about the price, and they offered to refund the difference between the posted price and the offer price. I told him that was nice, but that's not what I'm after. I didn't want a 1-star to begin with. Had I wanted a 1-star, I would have seen the posted price of $59 and offered $35 or so. He checked the system and said that the request had the one-star selected. I told him that I had not intended to select the one star. At this point, he said that he would make an exception in their refund policy since I "inadvertently entered the incorrect information when submitting your recent Hotel Request". He cancelled the entire request and refunded one of the rooms immediately. I had 7 days to re-offer with the correct criteria, at which time I'll be refunded the other room less a $25 fee. I'm ok with that since I did apparently hit the wrong check box - even though I think the fee is bogus.
After originally thinking I'd be out $176.44, they refunded $88.22 immediately, and the other $88.22 less $25 fee after I re-booked.
Call it a $25 mistake...
