Washington Mutual Informative - Lost my 18k payoff check
I refinanced my house and previously has a fixed rate equity loan with Washington Mutual. The title company of course sent them a check to pay off my loan. The FedEx tracking information states they received my check on 4/26/07. I assumed the loan was paid and never thought about it until they took another payment out of my checking account on 5/11/07. I called on 5/14/07 inquiring why the payment was taken out. They found out the issue was that the check was missing. Ok, well they couldn't refund the payment so i was out almost $200 from my checking account. He opened a "Task" under the account to find the missing payment and canceled the auto pay. I called again to find out the moron opened the task under the wrong account. (the line of credit which always had a balance of $0). why would i pay 18k to an account with a balance of $0? The auto pay was also not canceled under the right account. So they had to open another task under the right account pushing the resolve date out another week. Yesterday I received a letter in the mail asking for the copy of the check. This time I called to see what was up. She said if the check was cashed to send the copy of the check. if it was not cashed, then stop payment and reissue another one. I told her she should refund my $200 payment since the resolve date is 2 days away. She cant do it because she doesn't have proof of payment even though i faxed a check #, and the fed ex tracking with the actual signature. Some people were nice when I called but others were rude. So the title company has to issue another check, then they have to receive it (AND NOT LOSE IT) then process it. It already has been over a month. I wonder how long it will take to get my loan paid off and my $200 back. Also, they told me it was a fixed rate loan, and that is also the title of the product but the interest increased like 3 times in the 1 year I had it.
