House Of Brides - Oak Lawn Informative - Bridesmaid Dress

Review by megs0999 on 2007-06-08
OAK LAWN, ILLINOIS -- DO NOT PURCHASE A DRESS FROM THE HOUSE OF BRIDES!!! Since you are not able to try on the dresses in store because they don't have every size in the same dress, they take your measurements and order you a dress in the correct size. SO YOU THINK. Well needless to say I received my dress and it was 7.5 inches too small in the waist, they measured me wrong. Then when I went back in to get remeasured because the dress did not fit the manager, Lucy, told me that I gained 10 inches in my waist, but all my other measurements were the same. So they have refused to help me. Let me just say one thing if I had gained 10 inches in my waist wouldn't my other measurements be off.

Just want everyone to know what they are dealing with if they choose House of Brides. BEWARE!!!!!!

My wife and her bridesmaids had the exact same experience. The dresses were all too small or too large, and the store manager blamed weight loss/weight gain. NONE of the dresses were correct. I suspect the measurements were fine; the dresses are made to order, but are made in China, so there must have been a communication problem. It's the only conclusion I can come to. Needless to say, the store manager wasn't about to accept responsibility, and blamed it on the customers, who apparently have extremely irregular eating habits....anyhow, what ended up happening with your dress? Did they fix the problem?

How long did it take from your measurements to when you got the dress and tried it on. How does someone gain 10 inches around there waist in a short time? It's not healthy, unless they are very pregnant. 10 inches is a lot!

I purchased the Dress on December 15, 2006 and received it May 2007. So about 5 months. And if I gained 10 inches around my waist my other measurements should not have been the same as they were.

I am still in the process but nothing so far. I will take it to small claims court if I have to. The need to stop doing this to people. If you know anyone who would like to help me build a case against this company, please let me know. Megan megangaskins@hotmail.com
