Bestwestern of Menlo Park Ca Complaint - Service Animal

Complaint
Review by Lyger on 2007-06-08
As a consumer from your state, I felt it was my responsibility to bring to your attention the following incident.

Our service animal was refused at the Bestwestern Hotel in Menlo Park.

As a resolution, I would like the following:

A letter from your office informing them of the law.I have their statement they do not accept service animals. It was left on my answering machine.

Please contact me if you need more details regarding this incident.

Good luck on pursuing this. I just read your other post. I applaud you for being reasonable about this by asking that they be informed about the law rather than threatening to sue.

Wow, that's pretty lousy. I hope you found another hotel that was able to accomodate you, and your precious dog.

Good luck, and keep us posted. That was a pretty suckful message to leave you.

According to the ADA the dog could not be refused entrance, our's are in training as service dogs and they go where we go, they have been welcomed everyplace we go.
Our's are well behaved and clean, they go to Denny's, Wal-Mart, Safeway, the local mom and pop's restaurant, and they are only 9 months old, but they are learning fast and have 9 - 12 months of training left.
We were in Denny's a couple weeks ago and had left the pups home because we were putting the van in the garage and had to wait for a ride, right away we were asked where they were, were they okay, it's so nice to know that they were that well remembered by the staff there.
I'd go to the ADA and lodge a complaint there, you might get further.

Good post, Keep it up.
I also read your other post and agree with one-eyed.
A couple of questions.
Did you make reservations and inquire then about the dog. I understand you shouldn't have to ask the question but it might save some grief in the future.
Does your dog have the standard "jacket" for a service dog? These can't be purchased anywhere and sometimes help.

There are a couple sites where you can pick up a service vest for your dog, I plan on using them as soon as ours quit growing!
www.SitStay.com is one of them with about the most reasonable prices.
www.lonewolfdogwear.com
www.ActiveDogs.com is another but they are quite expensive.
Good luck!!
BTW....I called the local Best Western here and they allow pets with a $10 "pet fee" and she said this included service animals.
