Stan King Chevrrolet, Inc. Brookhaven Mississippi Complaint - Refused to pay for the back windshield that just shattered for unknow reasons

Review by MrBlue on 2007-06-11
333 BROOKHAVEN ST., MISSISSIPPI -- 2007 Chevrolet truck Silverado was sitting in our front yard and I noticed that the back windshield was cracked/and had broken lines. Iopen and closed the door and some of the glass fell in the back cabin of the truck. Had truck towed to Liton Glass for repair because the truck was under warranty. The Supervisor at dealership reports that the window was not under warranty and refused to pay for the cost to have the back window repaired. He states "the weather has been really warm down here and it could have been the heat that may have caused the window to shatter. Explained to him that I have not had the truck for a month and I feel that it was their responsibility to pay for the repairs. I have very unappy with the way I was treated and felt that he did not have any respect for me as a paying customer

If you have a rear defrost then that probably did it. That should be covered.

zz, what are you talking about? Who would use a rear defrost in hot weather?

Sheriff, sometimes the heating unit will come on inadvertantly. A co-worker had a BMW do that. Valid question, though.

Raise some hell with the dealership...after awhile they would take care of the back windshield just to get rid of me.

The back windows of cars and trucks are made of tempered glass. It is not an unknown phenomenon for a piece of tempered glass to get a microscopic scratch, and then, as it is sitting in the sun, the temperature causes the tempered glass to break. My brother-in-law just had the front passenger window break sitting in his mother's driveway. Another cause to check out or consider is a possible hit by a BB or pellet. It does not take a very hard hit to cause tempered glass to break.

WHY does it matter how it broke? Does the warranty stipulate various reasons are covered and others aren't?
