Home Depot Informative - Ridiculous Estimate - High Impact Replacement Windows

High Impact Replacement Windows
Review by ElRobbie on 2007-06-11
CORAL SPRINGS, FLORIDA -- A Home Depot estimator measured our windows and advised the cost of replacing them would be $17,100.

We subsequently received an estimate of $7,800 for the same merchandise from Lowe's.

Home Depot...going down hill fast.

geez...someone have a crack habit to charge someone 10 grand more? LOL!

That is sheer nonsense. My MIL had windows installed in her house for nowhere near that amount.

Maybe they meant $7100 instead if $17100 because the person that did the estimate was bad at math.

Home Depot's 'At Home Services', including window replacement, offers great value. Many folks will see the quote as high until they get real 'apples to apples' competitive quotes. Lowe's does not, IMHO, fall into that category. Home depot's impact windows from Simonton, American Craftsman (an Anderson company), and Jeldwen are among the finest in the industry. The installed price includes tax, delivery, removal and disposal of existing, building permit, all ancillary products (calking, fasteners, etc.) and comes with a lifetime warranty that includes accidental glass breakage. All this with great financing options and a warranty backed by the WORLD's second largest retailer. Look at a Lowe's quote carefully. I know in my Tampa market that Lowe's does not offer the same quality products, does not include a building permit, and they charge for the estimate. For a program and window more on par with The Home Depot, look to Sears and you can see the true savings had by using The Home Depot.
