Ernie Palmer Toyota of Jacksonville FLorida Complaint - Toyota Tundra lease - Sales

Review by jaxdoctor on 2007-06-11
JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA -- The manager at Ernie Palmer Toyota-called me on my cell phone 06/11/2007 and promised me a deal on lease-promised no gimmicks or tricks. I went in they he had me fill out paperwork, had me drive vehicle he said they were going to lease me asked me if I liked color etc. After more than a hour wait he said their promotion was not valid this month and truck I test drove anyway did not qualify for promotion. I asked why they lied to me and lured me to dealership. I asked for my paperwork back and the manager refused to give it to me. They must stop false advertising and solicitation!

Sounds like a case of bait and switch to me!

I would never lease a vehicle. It is a great deal for the dealer, but less than desirable for the customer. You cannot modify the vehicle in any way (such as installiing any special gear.) You can't drive over a specified amount of miles, or you get hit with a big overcharge. In effect, you pay for a new car, then turn it in when lease expires. The dealer sells it at almost new price, and you have nothing to show for the car but lease receipts. Not for me, thank you.

It's not your paperwork, it's the dealers, so they were in their right in not giving it to you. If any car dealer called me and said they had a great deal for me, I would be extremely skeptical.

hey starlord, a lease is a good deal if you get the lowest deal possible. a rule of thumb is to have payments total half the cars sticker price at the end of lease. Most cars are valued at half the sticker price in three years time. I always go to all the dealers in the area to get the best deal.

leasing is not for everyone...HOWEVER, if you are like most consumers and you do not pay cash for a car (never reccommended as a vehicle is generally considered a depreciating asset) or you do not pay off a car...you do have something when you try to trade it in...a DEFICIT...leasing is a great way to drive a car and have NO DEFICIT for alot of people...
