connectix Complaint - Company nullifies free shipping offer

CALIFORNIA -- For a limited time, Connectix offers free shipping for all orders of its Virtual PC software ordered through them online. When one goes to the site, one of at least two things happen: they charge shipping anyway, or the order system claims your shopping cart is empty, although on the computer screen your order is clearly apparent. I called their toll free customer service 3 times. The first time I was cut off after being on hold for an hour, the second time the same thing, the third time I was told my wait would be 11 minutes, after 45 minutes I had to hang up and go to work. I called the toll number and was told the wait would be at least 16 minutes.Experience taught me that this was an unfounded lie and even if it were true, it would negate the money I saved tyring to take advantage of 'free'shipping. Why are companies so surprised when they make a great offer to entice their customers, then their system is overrun because they didn't compensate for the added demand?
