Auto Towne Complaint - Refusal to send me paperwork on car!

Review by Anonymous on 2002-05-26
PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- I purchased a vehicle from Auto Towne on Cave Creek Road in Phoenix AZ in March of 2001. I proceeded to send payments for four months (at 400.00 a month). I still recieved no paperwork. I wrote them on numerous occasions as well as visited them, and was told they had been sent and might have been "lost in the mail" they would get me copies. Well after paying until September and my insurance was up, I wished to change companies and could not without the paperwork. Then in November my tags were to expire. Still nothing from repeated calls and visits. I could not renew my tags, therefore could not drive the vehicle. In November I stopped making payments, and told them where the car was and to pick it up (it was no use to me if I could not drive it) so a 1500.00 down for the car plus 800.00 cash plus 8- 400.00 payments= 5500.00 on a car valued at 8000.00. This car also remained on my property until I moved in March of this year, they never picked it up. Also they sold me this car not telling me it was a restore /salvage vehicle. I was also told, abandoning a vehicle is illegal, (what can you do?) I also found out they neber sent the paperwork to DMV (like they said they did)So I could not get the papers I needed that way either. PLEASE BE CAREFUL YOU BUY CARS FROM A REPUTABLE DEALER!! Thank you
