Auto insurance - Complaint
COLORADO -- We got Hartford insurance for our autos and home through AARP 7 years ago because of the low initial rates compared with our existing insurance. It certainly didn't take long for Hartford to start raising their premiums to regain their initial losses, even though we never filed a claim.
By this year we finally got fed up and decided to go back to Safeco, since by now they were much cheaper. Just switch companies, right? Whoa, hold on. Hartford charges a 10% PENALTY to quit them! And suspends your combined auto/house discount RETROACTIVELY if you quit either the auto or house insurance before the expiration date.
How deceitful! Avoid this company, even if they do have attractive initial rates. You'll pay much more later.

It is very dangerous to purchase insurance based on price alone, as many people find out, usually too late. If you find an agent and company you are satisfied with, then don't waste the relationship over a few dollars.
